Rep. William Delahunt has been telling tales.

The incumbent Congressman from Super-Blue State Massachusetts has been coasting–excuse the pun–on a story that he is a veteran of the Coast Guard Reserve. In fact, in Massachusetts the word “Veteran” appears after his name on the ballot.

There are two problems with his claim.

First, according to his DD214, Delahunt only served 180 days of active duty service. That’s 6 months. Secondly, most of those six months were spent in training, which doesn’t count under Massachusetts law. Read it for yourself:

A veteran shall not include active duty for training in the army national guard or air national guard or active duty for training as a reservist in the armed forces of the United States.

What else does the State of Massachusetts consider not eligible for veteran status?

(d) Any person whose only service in the armed forces of the United States consists of his service as a member of the coast guard auxiliary or as a temporary member of the coast guard reserve, or both.

What does all this mean? It’s quite simple. Delahunt misrepresented himself to the people of his district in order to be elected. He, much like his friend John Kerry, lied about his military record in order to court the votes of real veterans.

This story is being ignored by the media in Massachusetts, which is interesting because you’d think the media would be all over another scandal. Why is this one flying under the radar? The answer is simple:

William Delahunt is a Kennedy/Kerry-type Democrat, in a state so blue it hasn’t taken a breath of fresh air in years.

I’ve been talking about this on my show. Tune in to give me your opinion. Should Delahunt, a raging nutroots liberal who supports both CAIR and La Raza, still be on the ballot after brazenly lying to the nation and to his district? The answer is no. Do the people of Massachusetts have the integrity to vote him out? We’ll see.

You guys know that I’ve been really burned out lately. I keep sitting down at my computer to try and explain what’s been going on inside my head, but then the words fail me. How’s that for a first?! I was describing my state of mind to Kit and I called it a “crisis of faith” - in the people of my country and the future of our nation. It has been hanging over my head and clouding my mind for several weeks now. Maybe I’ll elaborate more on it, but then again, maybe you don’t care to hear it. It’s not happy stuff.

So Kit wisely counseled me to look for the good and share that with you. I have haltingly taken her excellent advice and found something that truly touched my cynical heart - as only an American soldier can do. Maybe you’ve seen this before, but for me it is new.

This picture is of Chief Master Sargeant John Gebhardt. A little Iraqi girl was rescued from an attack by insurgents, who killed her entire family and shot her in the head. She survived, but would cry all day. She would only be calm when Gebhardt would hold her. So Gebhardt has held her and slept with her in his arms for four nights (by the time the picture was taken).

Thanks to Blackfive, this beautiful musical tribute to Aussie soldiers, or “Diggers”, has gone viral among Americans. It was a nice pick-me-up today so I want to join in on the promotion of this lovely lady and her love for Australia.

I’ve listened to it a few times, and it is so touching to hear the pure earnestness of her support for the Aussie Diggers.
