Jack Idema is a lot of things, a saint to some, the devil himself to many others. He is outspoken, often rude and obnoxious, and sometimes hilarious. What he is not, is a pussy. He is a Green Beret, a former NY police detective, Skydiver, Master Scuba Instructor, Hand to Hand Combat Instructor (US Special Forces Hwa Rang Do Master), and has more military and Special Forces qualifications than Rambo every dreamed of. He joined the army at 17, entered the Special Forces Course at 18 and was awarded his Green Beret at 19, making him the youngest Green Beret in history.

He has fought in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama, Guatemala, South East Asia, Africa, Haiti, and South West Asia. He has trained and advised military forces in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Laos, South Africa, Lithuania, most of Europe and even Russia. He was in Berlin when the wall crumbled, Lithuania during the fall of the Soviet Empire, and sat in a deserted Red Square with a team of pro-democracy Russian GRU/Alfa Group (Spetsgruppa A) Commandos drinking beer as the USSR’s flag was lowered for the last time at 1935 hours on December 25, 1991. These former enemies were still drinking as the new flag went up.

He was one of the first American combatants to enter Afghanistan after 9/11 and spent ten months training, advising, and leading the Northern Alliance as they swept through Afghanistan and defeated the Taliban. Every al-Qaida terrorist training image you see played on FOX News, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and BBC was captured by Jack Idema. How many people do you know that searched bin Laden’s house, chased Abu Musab al-Zarqawi into across the Afghan border, and found Ayman al-Zawahiri hiding in Iran? He was featured on the front cover of the bestselling War on Terror book of all time, The Hunt For Bin Laden, and on the British book - TASK FORCE DAGGER. He has appeared on 60 Minutes, Dateline, Nightline, and thirty other television shows, and on more than 750 radio shows, including one of the longest appearances ever on IMUS.

He hates the press, despises left wing liberals (although he says he is a liberal), and thinks all governments are inherently evil. Besides Washington, Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt, the only presidents he as ever liked are Reagan and JFK. He has been fighting terrorists and terrorism for almost thirty years, long before it was fashionable. He saved the life of Afghanistan’s Minister of Defense and then presidential candidate Yunis Qanooni (now Chief of their first Parliament). He has survived more than 11 terrorist assassination attempts, many of which resulted in no shortage of dead terrorists. Jack Bauer is fictional, Jack Idema is not.

“The world sucks, governments suck, the press sucks, the State Department especially sucks, Bush is puke, his staff are liars, and we should use nukes, instead of storing them. Basically I hate everyone, but most of all I hate the press, because those are the lies that subvert freedom, destroy lives, and mislead America. Freedom of the Press is an unalienable right, just as freedom of religion, speech, and the right to life. But the sole determining factor should be truth. Truth should be the only defense. If you lie to America and Americans, then you should pay the fucking price and pay it dearly, because while our forefathers defended liberty they did not endorse propaganda.

“The press destroyed me, everyone around me, and everything I ever was with a typewriter. They used an anonymous source. They claimed I hung terrorists upside down from a basement ceiling (in a compound with no basement). Well, I didn’t. But not because it would have been a bad thing. Because it doesn’t work. If I thought I could save one child, one woman, one puppy dog, or one innocent person, I’d cut a fucking terrorist’s head off with a hacksaw in a heartbeat. War is by definition an inherently violent act, and make no mistake about it, this is a war, and it is, contrary to the liberal pundits, a religious war. It’s about defending the world as we know it and want it, against those that would terrorize us into submission to their Islamo-facist oppression.

“So the next time some self-proclaimed expert tells you all about terrorists and terrorism, just ask them when was the last time they killed a terrorist, interrogated an al-Qaida psycho, smashed a Taliban homicidal maniac in the face with the butt of a machinegun, blew up a Taliban tank, or watched an Arab terrorist’s eyes roll back in his head as he was choked unconscious?

Captain Brent Bennett and Lieutenant Zorro Rasuli Banderas will be joining Jack as co-hosts from Afghanistan.

Bennett is a former 82nd Airborne Paratrooper and Special Operations Forward Infantry Surveillance Team member. An advisor to the United Front Military Forces, he was Jack’s partner when they saved the lives of American allies Yunis Qanooni and General Mohammed Fahim. He is 29, single, and a tournament Billiards player. His Scottish linage explains his 6′ tall Highlander look and nickname.

Banderas is an aide to General Atta, the Afghan general that captured Mazar-i-Sharif in 2001, assigned by Atta to Jack’s “rogue” counter-terror operations in 2004. “Zorro” as he is nicknamed, is also one of the youngest Afghan CIA agents to operate during the 2001/2002 war. He speaks six languages. His older brother was killed while working with US Special Forces during the war. He lost his father during the Taliban regime, and most of his family were either killed or wounded with the Northern Alliance resistance fighting against the Taliban. He is 23, single, and an expert on American films — especially fond of Goodfellas, The Sopranos, 24, The Unit, Analyze This, and Julia Roberts in Notting Hill.
